 We can Positively

Train Your Dog

We Do Not Teach Or Recommend

  • We do not believe it is necessary or productive to "dominate" a dog for any reason.

  • Good leadership should never involve the use of physical force, physical, verbal or psychological punishment, intimidation, fear or pain.

  • You can be a good leader by following these three simple rules; 1. Begin and end all interactions with the dog - if you lead, the dog follows. 2. Ignore all demands.  3. Have the dog earn everything it values by performing a previously taught cue.

  • Intimidation based training can quickly destroy a dog's trust in people, resulting in fear-biting.

  • Since fear bites account for over 90% of dog bites, dog trainers SHOULD NOT be contributing to the problem.

  • Intimidation-based training creates respect based on fear, what positive reinforcement training creates is respect based on trust.

  • You can create two well trained dogs, one cowering - afraid of making a mistake, the other exuding confidence with a wagging tail, enjoying life.

  •  WHICH DOG DO YOU WANT?

  • What you would not want someone to do to you, you should NOT do to a dog!

Dog Prong Collars:
To a novice these training collars can look like medieval torture devices… now that’s pretty severe looking! Dog prong collars (also know as a pinch collar) are made of a series of interlocking chain with blunt (yes blunt!) metal prongs designed to rest on the dog’s neck.
When the collar is tightened, pressure is applied evenly around the dog’s neck by the metal prongs. Prong collars are much safer in the hands of an inexperienced dog owner than a traditional choke chain.

Remote Electronic Dog Training Collars
Electric dog collars (or electronic training collars) work by delivering a minimal shock as a correction. The shock is similar to a static electricity shock that you get from walking across a carpet.
During electronic dog collar training you should always set the electronic collar on a minimal setting and increase as necessary until the stimulus gets your dogs attention.

The minimal setting required will very greatly from dog to dog. Because you operate these collars remotely dog e-collars are great for off lead training.

Just think how much safer you would feel if you were able to get your dog’s attention and correct her with an electronic training dog collar if she started running ahead of you towards the highway.

Electronic Dog Bark Collars:
Unlike another dog training collar, electronic dog training shock collars are activated by the vibration caused by your dog’s bark.

Electronic dog bark collars won’t be accidentally triggered by environmental sounds… like a neighbor’s dog barking… or a car backfiring.

Sonic Bark Collars:
Sonic bark collar dog training was designed to deliver a high-pitched noise to discourage nuisance barking. These are not as effective as other training dog collars on the market. It seems that as a dog gets used to their high pitched noise the dog may resume barking.

Abuse is physical or psychological injury caused by mistreatment

or the misuse of power associated with authority.  It is a corrupt practice

or custom, improper or excessive use or treatment.  It is a deceitful act,

it is a communication that condemns or vilifies unjustly,

intemperately and angrily.

The IPDTA defines abuse in training and behaviour modification

as the use of any tool or technique that was created or used with the intent to cause harm to a dog including but not limited to; injury, pain, fear, or mistrust, be it physical, psychological, emotional or behavioural.

Those that truly love dogs will not abuse them!!!

I believe the following to be potentially abusive;

choke chains, pinch collars, shock equipment, alpha rollovers and other forms of physical punishment and/or domination, hanging, kicking or hitting of any kind, or any other tool or technique that causes fear or pain for an Animal or dog.
