The American Bulldog is a very athletic dog that makes a great family pet. The males are slightly larger than the females. They grow to a height of between 22 and 27 inches and weight up to 125 pounds. The females can grow up to 25 inches and weigh up to 100 pounds. They have a short coat that is stiff and it can come in a variety of shades including white, red, and brindle.

The American Bulldog has a great personality for being a family pet. They are loving, great with kids, and loyal. They do great with other pets, but you may need to socialize them and train them to be gentle with small pets in your home. Their build and natural protective character also makes them a great watch dog and guard dog. They were bred to be a hog catching dog and a cattle catching dog so they may not be the best dog to keep around livestock, unless you plan to use them as a working dog.

This breed is a low maintenance breed. You will only need to brush their coats when it needs it. To train this breed to be a social animal you will need to socialize them when they are young puppies, especially if you plan on adding other pets to your family.
